Perrine Crosmary

President of HISA - TV animator and director

Currently working for the program Planète Safari (French TV program), Perrine has also worked as a presenter and explorer for Canal+ and other wildlife documentaries. She’s our special correspondent. Trained in Archeology and specialized in Zoology, her research led her to work on the relations between predator and prey and the analysis of relations between men and wildlife.

Her many years of experience in the field, mainly in southern and eastern Africa, have allowed her to engage with various actors in the protection of nature and animal welfare.

Through anti-poaching, scientific research, conservation programs, education and various surveys, Perrine is dedicated to fighting against exploitation, abuse and the destruction of nature and wild or domestic animals in any shape or form.

Jean-Pascal Arnaud

Jean-Pascal Arnaud

Secretary of HISA

JeanPascal is passionate about surfing, ocean and wildlife. He spent a lot of time looking for the perfect wave in the most remote corners of the planet. After a postgraduate diploma in territorial planning, he followed a rather eclectic path, from the Gironde Chamber of Agriculture to apprentice carpenter, he also created his own website of organic childcare equipment. Today, hes looking for a new adventure, a new challege that will allow him to dedicate more time to HISA and his other passion, photography.

Margaux Babola

Margaux Babola

Project manager for HISA - Ethologist

Young biologist specializing in ethology, Margaux worked on various projects related to behavioral themes aimed at improving and preserving the welfare of domestic and wild animals. In recent years, she has led a project in Brazil to improve cattle welfare. She also participated in a field mission in Thailand to study semi-wild Asian elephant behaviors in their natural habitat.

Driven by a deep interest in the relationship between humans and wildlife, Margaux works to develop a better coexistence between wildlife and human activities. She joined the HISA team in February 2018, and is currently working on the “SAUVAGES” project, which campaigns against animal exploitation for human entertainment. She is also involved in setting up the Makoa project in Tanzania, which aims to create a new rescue center model and, when possible, to reintroduce wild animals that were wounded, abused or poached.

William Crosmary

William Crosmary

HISA conservation expert - PhD in biology

William is an ecology expert and specializes in the conservation of large mammals. He has traveled Africa for a decade, intothe heart of major national parks and beyond, into the wild.

He worked for two years at the IGF Foundation, during which time he carried out numerous field missions and co-authored a number of reports about monitoring and observing large- scale wildlife. He co-authored several IUCN and FAO expert reports on African lion populations and on the conflict issues with local communities.

For three years in Zimbabwe, William was in-situ manager of the CNRS-CIRAD-Hwange Environmental Research Development project. He conducted scientific research on the ecological effects due to the hunting large herbivores.

Today, he’s based between Canada and France, his research has recently led him to take an interest in moose populations in Quebec’s forests.

In 2011, William participated in the creation of HISA with the main goal of working to reconcile wildlife conservation and sustainable human communities.

Gaëlle Darmon

Gaëlle Darmon

Hyper-active member of HISA - Biologist

Gaëlle studies the relationship between wildlife, its habitat and human activities. Her research has led her to work in different types of ecosystems, from alpine pastures to the boreal forest. Her aim is to understand how animals adapt to their environment or what their role is in the ecosystem.

Gaëlle also works hard to determine the most effective measures to protect ecosystems and to help find concrete solutions to reconcile human activities and nature preservation.

Tommy Gaillard

Tommy Gaillard

Hyper-active member of HISA - Biologist

During his studies in behavioral ecology, Tommy focused on the coexistence between man and wildlife and today is determined to meet the needs and well-being of rural populations and those of wildlife preservation.

He first conducted research in Zimbabwe, where he developed and directed a study on baboons, and the damage to crops due to elephant stampeding near Hwange National Park. Part of this work was published and presented at the International Congress of Primatology in Rome in 2015.

Nurtured by his experiences, he joined the HISA team, attracted by its interdisciplinary approach and core values. With the support of HISA, heshot his first documentary “The challenges of coexistence: Man and Wolf in the Alps”, bringing constructive exchanges to a complex issue. This followed with the birth of ENCOSH, co-developing the first collaborative international platform to exchange practices in regards to coexisting with wild mammals. Tommy also contributed, as a consultant, to the RESSOURCE project with FAO and CIRAD including a book project on the issues of coexistence between humans and large wildlife.

He arrived in French Guiana at the end of 2017, and has since met various local structures which led to the COFEEL project for a sustainable coexistence between breeding activities and the preservation of big cats.

Through his various experience and work, Tommy has acquired various skills, notably related to the coordination and animation of multi-partner projects, research in human sciences and behavioral ecology, environmental education, consulting with breeders, student training, and video reporting.
